A Warm Welcome from the Start

Born in Spain and raised in Penrith, Alya found her way to Newcastle and quickly made it home. She completed her Bachelor of Health Science at the University of Sydney, majoring in Health Promotion, and was shaped early in her career by the exceptional care she witnessed from her clinical supervisor, Dental Therapist Catherine Smith. That example of genuine, patient-centred practice has stayed with her ever since.

Patients who meet Alya for the first time tend to notice her warmth straight away. She hopes every person who walks through the door feels comfortable, understood, and never judged.

Care That’s Built Around You

Alya’s background in health promotion means she thinks about oral health differently. For her, it’s never one-size-fits-all. Every patient has different goals, habits, and starting points, so she tailors her approach accordingly.

She’s especially passionate about prevention; helping patients develop the everyday habits that keep their smiles healthy and reduce the need for treatment over time. In her view, good dental care is as much about education and support as it is about what happens in the chair.

Life Outside the Practice

When she’s not at work, Alya is usually with her little family in Newcastle, the city where she met her partner and is raising her young son. She’s also a regular at the gym and places a lot of value on the relationships she builds, whether that’s with patients, colleagues, or her community.
