Meet Kacie Dragojlovic, Dental Hygienist

A Passion for Education and Prevention
Vitor was born and raised in Portugal, where he earned his Diploma in Oral Hygiene from the University of Lisbon. His studies later took him to the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. It was there that his interest in community oral health and supporting patients with special needs and dental anxiety continued to grow.
He later completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours Class I) at the University of Newcastle.
Vitor’s career has extended beyond the clinic. He has held academic and clinical educator roles at the University of Sydney, the University of Newcastle, James Cook University, and the University of Lisbon, where he has lectured, mentored students, contributed to curriculum development, and supervised clinical training.
He has also served as Vice President of the Dental Hygienists Association of Australia (NSW Branch) and presented professional development workshops.
Helping Patients Feel at Ease
Vitor knows many people arrive at dental appointments feeling nervous, so he focuses on creating a calm, welcoming experience where patients feel listened to and respected. His positive energy, sense of humour, and habit of singing along to the music often help make appointments feel a little less clinical.
His additional education and professional development have included Invisalign® clear aligners, local anaesthesia, nitrous oxide administration, laser dentistry, orthodontics, medical emergency management, and preventive oral health approaches. Whatever the appointment involves, Vitor’s focus is on education and prevention, helping patients better understand their oral health and feel informed about their care.
Outside the Practice
Away from the practice, Vitor enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, and making things by hand. He volunteers as a surf lifesaver at Redhead Beach, enjoys playing soccer, and loves gathering with family and friends over good food and music. At home, he enjoys baking bread, cooking, making hot sauces, gardening, woodworking, and bladesmithing.
Vitor met his wife while studying in Seattle, and they settled in Australia in 2006. They have two children.
